The boy from an Indian middle-class family was born in New Delhi, India was born on 2 November 1988. He started studying singing and acting in 2006. Later in 2010 he decided to move to South Korea and received his graduation from Korea National University of Arts. 

He is expected to finish his master’s degree in acting by 2021. Anupam faced a lot of difficulty in understanding cultural and language differences at first.

In the 1936 Seoul Theater Festival, he appeared as a bomb expert fighting for Korean independence in the play 불량청년 which was picked for the 36th Seoul Theater Festival.

He has also appeared in minor roles in various television series like Hospital Playlist (2020) and films such as Space Sweepers (2021). He has played many roles that are associated with being an immigrant worker in Korean society. 

The Netflix original series Squid Game (2021) gave Tripathi his first main cast role as undocumented Pakistani worker Ali Abdul. Tripathi was cast because he is fluent in Korean and could demonstrate emotional acting skills, according to director Hwang Dong-hyuk.

In addition, he also said that it is hard to find foreign actors in Korea’. In a matter of days, Tripathi’s Instagram followers grew from 10,000 to over 2.5 million in response to the series’ international success
